Your UEID (the New DUNS Number)

1. Create a Login.gov Account

Go to: https://login.gov/
Video tutorial: The Video on the right will walk you through each step.
Note on Authentication method: Every time you log-in to a federal website (which happens a lot) you will have to authenticate yourself so consider the method of authentication that you select. In general we recommend:
Face or Touch Unlock: Assuming your computer supports this it is the easiest
Authentication or SMS: This is our second favorite since it just requires you to have your phone (which most people have with them at all times)
The other methods: The other methods require that you keep track of USB keys which inevitably get lost, Government card readers which is just more stuff to keep track of, or a list of codes that you are going to lose.

2. Create a SAM Account

Go to: https://sam.gov/content/home
Video tutorial: The Video on the right will walk you through each step.
Note: If this is the first time registering your business (e.g. you have not been through the old Duns & Bradstreet registration process) you will have to have your company information validated.  To do this just upload the documents requested.
For more companies this will be:

  • Some evidence of your physical address (e.g. an office rental agreement or a utility bill)
  • Evidence that you’ve registered with your state
  • Your articles of incorporation or other corporate formation documents

It can take a couple days for the government to process these documents and they may come back with questions that you will have to answer

3. Get your Unique Entity ID

Go to: https://sam.gov/content/home
Video tutorial: The Video on the right will walk you through each step.
Note: The UEID process is very similar to the SAM account creation process BUT when you do the company search you should see your company listed and when you select it you will be able to create a UEID
